We amplified fungal ITS1 DNA from a decade of air samples taken at the Mauna Loa atmospheric observation station in Hawai'i. Sample units were air filters routinely collected from 2000-2013 to observe aerosol density and reflectivity. This decade-long time series of fungal amplicons shows the movement of fungal propagules in the upper atmosphere and allows observations regarding trends and shifts in atmospheric fungal community structure.
