资源简介:
Skyrmions are topologically-protected vortices of magnetisation that have been found to exist in some magnetically ordered materials. In systems lacking inversion symmetry, this state is typically stabilised by the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction (DMI). However, in systems such as GdRu2Si2, a centrosymmetric magnet that has been shown to host a skyrmion lattice, the mechanism for stabilising this phase is controversial. Following our recent success in studying the magnetic phases in this material using implanted muons, we now propose zero-field (ZF) and longitudinal field (LF) μSR measurements in order to probe the dynamics in these phases and to determine whether these exhibit significant spin anisotropy, which is required by many of the proposed mechanisms for skyrmion stabilisation in these systems. These measurements are complementary to those we will make on the related materials TbRu2Si2 and TbRu2Ge2 as part of proposal RB2520321.
