This dataset examines the relationship between market orientation (customer orientation, competitor orientation, and inter-functional coordination) and innovativeness, as well as the moderating effects of market turbulence, in Malaysian SMEs. Data were collected from 180 SME owners and managers using self-administered questionnaires and analyzed with Smart PLS 2.0 (M3). Key findings show positive relationships between all dimensions of market orientation and innovativeness. Market turbulence moderated these relationships, positively affecting customer orientation but negatively impacting inter-functional coordination. This dataset is ideal for researchers studying market orientation, innovativeness, and external environmental factors in SMEs.
