In order to give CAD designers the possibility to evaluate their workpieces in respect to the energy required to machine it, one has to create a connection between the 3D model of the workpiece and the energy consumption of the machine tool (Brillinger, et al., 2021):
1. Raw data collected from the NCU of the machine tool
2. Matched data: NC instructions with corresponding energy consumption.
