Colistin resistance in carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii clinical isolates from Thailand

Acinetobacter baumannii is a highly versatile nosocomial pathogen. With the emergence of extensively drug-resistant A. baumannii isolates including carbapenem-resistant strains, led to the use of colistin with subsequently giving rise to colistin-resistant isolates. In this study, colstin resistance mechanisms of colistin-resistant carbapenem-resistant A. baumannii isolates were investigated by both phenotypic and genotypic profiles compared with those of colistin-susceptible isolates collected in the same period.
