Our study uses the leaf area index (LAI) over Northeast China from 2000 to 2020 as an indicator of changes in vegetation greenness. Based on concurrent natural datasets (including air temperature, precipitation, and atmospheric CO₂ concentration) and human-activity datasets (such as land-use patterns and gross domestic product, GDP), the study aims to characterise the spatio-temporal dynamics of vegetation, employ the Geodetector model to identify and explain the main driving factors of vegetation spatial heterogeneity, and further quantify the relative contributions of climate change and human activities to vegetation change by separating their effects using multiple-regression residuals.
