DRIFT FTIR spectra of size-fractionated chernozems under four land uses (n = 24)

Primary experimental dataset supporting the manuscript "Heterospectral Two-Dimensional Correlation IR Spectroscopy of Size-Fractionated Chernozems: Land-Use Contrasts" (Proskurnin, Volkov, Rogova; submitted to Pedosphere).24 diffuse-reflectance (DRIFT) FTIR spectra of a typical (Haplic) chernozem soil (Kursk region, Russia) from a long-term field experiment, wet-sieved into six size fractions (40-63, 63-80, 80-100, 100-200, 250-500, 500-1000 micrometres) and taken from four contrasting land uses: native steppe, arable land (continuous tillage), post-arable fallow, and shelterbelt (planted forest strip). Recorded on a Bruker Vertex 70 spectrometer with a PrayingMantis DRIFT accessory, resolution 2 cm-1, 128 sample and 128 background scans, Kubelka-Munk transform, 4044 grid points per spectrum over ~3998-99 cm-1.The archive additionally contains:- three synthetic mineral reference bases (quartz-only 5 centres, pure-mineral 55 centres, all-mineral 91 centres) with attribution and reference tags;- the numerical results of the per-centre non-negative least-squares mineral-matrix subtraction pipeline used in the manuscript;- the Python code for the heterospectral 2D-COS, PCMW2D, 2DCDS and sample-sample 2D-COS computations, the peak-picking with permutation-null screening, and the band-classifier procedure.The same 24 primary spectra underlie the graphical presentations in four earlier reports of this group on the same chernozems (Krivoshein et al. 2020 Photoacoustics; Volkov et al. 2021 Agronomy; Krivoshein et al. 2022 ACS Omega; Proskurnin et al. 2023 Agronomy 13:1696).
