资源简介:
The following are tables listing all of the people who served on the North Pacific Fishery Management Council and Advisory Panel from Alaska from 1976-2018. The Council is composed of 15 members; 11 voting and 4 non-voting. Seven of the voting members are appointed by the Secretary of Commerce upon the recommendation of the governors of Alaska and Washington. The governors must submit three names for each vacancy occurring on the Council and may indicate a preferred choice. Each member is appointed to a three-year term and may be reappointed but may not exceed three consecutive terms. The four non-voting members are the Executive Director of the Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission, the Area Director for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Commander of the 17th Coast Guard District, and a representative from the U.S. State Department. From the voting membership, the Council elects a Chairman and Vice-Chairman to serve one-year terms. The Advisory Panel (AP) members represent major segments of the fishing industry; catching and processing, subsistence and commercial fishermen, observers, consumers, environmental/conservation, and sport fishermen. The AP currently consists of 22 members, usually serving three-year staggered terms (January 1 through December 31). These members may be reappointed or replaced by the Council annually at their December Council meeting. The original source of these data is the North Pacific Fishery Management Council. This data was modified by reformatting the columns slightly, including the addition of columns to specify whether the member is male or female, what region their community is located in, and whether that community is rural or urban. The rural/urban distinction is based on the definition used by the Federal Subsistence Board to determine the subsistence priority.
