Saloum Ceesay was born in Guinea, a village called Birasu Tambato. Foday Ceesay and Binta Touray were his parents. His grandfather also resided in Birasu Tambato. He was taken to Birasu Tambato by the community members. The reason for this was to encourage and support them spiritually in their war.  After the war ended, he settled there and got married.  He also traveled extensively in pursuit of knowledge. Initially, he settled in Kara Sukuta, followed by Jambajelly, and then in Kartong. Eventually, he married multiple wives, including; Jalang Touray, Naa Sandi Darboe, and Binta Keita. They had children, named here are; Binta, Nyima, Kaddy, Kalifa, and Bakary.
