This series contains liaison correspondence between the New South Wales Governor and the British Royal family via the United Kingdom Parliament. The Governor served as a representative for the Crown within the state of New South Wales and acted as a unifying symbol between them. The records include copies of letters sent by the Governor on behalf of the New South Wales government and its people. These letters were written to United Kingdom government officials to be forwarded on to the British Royal family. The series also includes responses from the Royal family in the form of telegrams or quoted within responses from the United Kingdom government officials.The liaison mostly comprises of congratulations and birthday wishes to members of the Royal family, requests for the use of Royal portraits, declarations of loyalty to the Queen, and some correspondence around Royal visits.The series includes copies of correspondence and some supplementary documents, such as the official booklets of Opening Ceremonies. Each year is bundled separately and the bundles are arranged chronologically. There are bundles for the years 1938, 1950, 1952-1957, 1959-1963, and 1965-2000. There is also a second bundle for 1997 containing grievance messages after the death of Diana, Princess of Wales.
