This article examines subject–verb agreement in English as a grammatical phenomenon shaped by the interaction of syntactic structure, semantic interpretation, and communicative focus. Rather than treating agreement as a fixed set of formal rules, the study approaches it as a flexible mechanism influenced by context and conceptualization. Particular attention is given to cases where agreement choices are determined by grammatical hierarchy, reference type, and structural organization. The analysis demonstrates that subject–verb agreement in modern English reflects meaning-oriented grammar and usage-based decision-making.
