Adelie penguin colonies, Ross Sea, Antarctica Metagenome

In this study, we use metagenomic sequencing of soils/sediments to reconstruct Adelie penguin populations, diet, and microbiota throughout the Ross Sea over the past 6000 years. Ornithogenic soil samples representing 15 active and abandoned Adelie penguin sites across the entire extent of the Ross Sea coastline (Ross Island to Cape Adare) were collected in January 2019 and January/February 2020.
