Taxonomical reassessment of the genus Elizabethkingia using whole genome sequencing

Taxonomy is an evolutionary science and with the evolving technologies more accurate taxonomical identification of a given bacterium became possible. Since last few years, whole genome sequencing (WGS) has been employed in taxonomy to access the in silico DNA-DNA hybridization.We sequenced the whole genome of type strains of all the four species and reassessed the taxonomical classification of the members of the genus Elizabethkingia based on the whole genome.
