Photograph of the interior view of a sugar (beet) factory, ca.1900. The factory is filled with a confusion of intricate pipes, valves, walkways, stairs and internal support structures. There are about six men working in this area. Picture file card reads: "Diffusion battery where the saccharine is first extracted from the beets by steam."
