MiSeq genome sequencing of a Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Manhattan strain associated to an outbreak of human infections in Northern Italy.. Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Manhattan str. 111113

From May to July 2009 fifteen human cases of salmonellosis by serotype Manhattan were diagnosed in Northern Italy and linked to pork-meat consumption. Since S. Manhattan is a rare serotype, an epidemic episode was hypothesised due to the unusually high incidence. Since there is still no available genome sequence for this rare serotype, one isolated strain was sequenced using an Illumina MiSeq sequencer with a 2x250 pair-end run. Library preparation was performed using an Illumina Nextera XT kit.
