Aim of the study: Redefining learning objectives in digital education for older people in light of dynamic technological change.
Data sources: Surveys and responses from participants of the e-learning course ‘How to effectively teach seniors how to use new media?’.
Study period: February 2024 - September 2024.
Research sample: 66 course participants.
Main categories of analysis
12 main learning objectives were identified, which form the basis for defining digital competences:
Basic computer and mobile device use.
Knowledge of basic digital terminology.
Handling of email.
Digital security.
Searching for information on the Internet.
Using social media.
Handling instant messaging.
Using online culture and entertainment.
Managing finances online.
Shopping online.
Installing additional software on smartphones.
Time management and organisation of activities.
Ddata collection methods
E-learning platforms: Open UJ and KIRE.
Research tasks:
Selection of key areas from the catalogue of digital competences.
Proposals of tools and websites relevant to seniors.
Evaluation of usability and accessibility of proposed solutions.
Data validation: SMART criteria (specificity, measurability, achievability, realism, timeliness).
Data analysis
Analytical tools: Grounded theory method, MAXQDA software.
Analysis process:
Pre-coding (identification of activities and life needs).
Axial coding (grouping and links between categories).
Consultation of results with external experts.
