Leisure and business overnight stays for trips made by Italians 2007-2022

The number of overnight stays for leisure and business trips taken by Italians grew in 2022 over the previous year, after dropping sharply with the onset of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Despite the annual increase, the volume of overnight stays remained below pre-pandemic levels, totaling roughly 347 million in 2022. That year, Italian travelers recorded around 333 million overnight stays for vacations and approximately 14 million stays for business trips.
