Hydro Polygon Open Data

The waterbody layer is a polygon layer that represents lakes, ponds, and other bodies of water. This layer was updated County-wide in 2023/2024 using the 2022 aerial imagery, 2019 DEM, and State of WI wetlands. The update process involved manual digitizing or adjustment of linework and subsequent polygons. Most linework was adjusted and smoothed (to create true curves), and the polygon created or adjusted using the trace tool so it followed the linework exactly. While no set standards were used in this update, several general protocols were followed: 1. If an existing polygon was present in the State of WI wetlands layer and was not an obvious pond, it was marked as wetland. 2. Wet areas or small bodies of water in wooded areas or fields and not in the State of WI wetlands layer were marked as other (neither pond nor wetland). 3. If a large area of wetlands had existing polygons, the polygons were changed to wetlands but may not have been adjusted to the imagery. 4. Named water bodies (according to GNIS) or water bodies with navigable waterways were marked lakes, otherwise they were marked ponds or other. 5. Very small wet areas or bodies of water may not have been mapped. While efforts were made to make this a comprehensive surface water update, some features may not be precise, missing, or inaccurate. Future updates may address these items.水体图层（waterbody layer）是用于表征湖泊、池塘及其他水域的多边形图层。该图层于2023至2024年间完成全县范围更新，所用数据源包括2022年航空影像、2019年数字高程模型（DEM）以及威斯康星州（State of WI）湿地图层。本次更新流程涵盖对线要素的手动数字化或调整，以及后续多边形的创建或调整工作。多数线要素经调整与平滑处理以生成真实曲线，随后通过追踪工具创建或调整多边形，使其与线要素完全匹配。尽管本次更新未设定统一标准，但遵循了若干通用规范：1. 若威斯康星州湿地图层中已存在对应多边形且非明显池塘，则将其标记为湿地；2. 林地或田野中的湿地区域、小型水域，且未收录于威斯康星州湿地图层的，标记为其他（既非池塘也非湿地）；3. 若大面积湿地区域已存在多边形，则将其类型更改为湿地，但可能未根据影像进行适配调整；4. 依据地理名称信息系统（GNIS，Geographic Names Information System）命名的水体，或具备通航河道的水体，标记为湖泊，其余则标记为池塘或其他类型；5. 极小的湿地区域或水体可能未被绘制入库。尽管已尽力开展全面的地表水更新工作，但部分要素仍可能存在精度不足、遗漏或不准确的问题，后续更新将有望解决此类问题。
