Surface microbial communities are exposed to seasonally changing environmental conditions, resulting in community composition recurring patterns. However, knowledge on temporal dynamics of open ocean microbial communities remains scarce.In this study we have identified seasonal patterns and taxa associations from surface and chlorophyll maximum layers in the open ocean Mediterranean Sea over a two-year period.
