资源简介:
The primary objective of this work is to test the hypothesis that
sedimentary and geomorphic settings explain much of the variability in
mangrove soil N stocks and burial rates across the world’s mangroves, a
concept with direct implications for nutrient removal and impetus for
increased focus on co-benefits of blue nitrogen and blue carbon
conservation strategies (e.g. ecosystem design features, wastewater
treatment, restoration). We utilized a spatially-explicit global mangrove
typology model combining sedimentary and geomorphic settings (SGS)
following Worthington et al. (2020) to estimate and compare magnitudes and
differences in total nitrogen (TN) stocks and burial rates. An
SGS represents a pairing of sedimentary (carbonate, terrigenous) and
geomorphic (delta, estuary, lagoon, open coast) settings.
