Hydrogen will be essential to ensure the energy transition in a near future. We have recently obtained several new 3d transition metal (TM) based rutile-type oxyfluorides, delivering outstanding performance as electrocatalysts for Oxygen Evolution Reaction (OER), prepared by thermal decomposition of hydrated TM fluorides. The synthesis conditions and their cationic compositions play an important role on the local structure of the materials formed and hence the catalytic performance. The experiment proposed at ID22 aims to follow in-situ their synthesis by fast X-ray Pair Distribution Function (PDF) in order to solve their complex local structure using high-resolution PDF.
