Public diplomacy on Twitter in 2021 and 2022: The case of Greece

The dataset contains the Twitter posts, posting times and types, retweet counts and favourite (like) counts of the 40 most active Greek state officials during the sample years of 2021 and 2022. The retrieved data includes only content published in English, as the related research focuses on digital public diplomacy directed at foreign audiences. The dataset includes the English language activities of all 40 officials between 1 January 2021 and 31 December 2022. The dataset is anonymous as it does not include the names of the selected Twitter accounts, only their respective roles in the government and/or state administration.

New features compared to v1:
– Year-long posting activities for 2021 and 2022.
– Comments are missing due to changes in the data source's policy on academic access.
– Missing data for tweet types have been collected, thus the “no data" section in the tweet type column has been deleted.
– Funder and grant number added.

Data collection was conducted between 01/01/2022 and 30/06/2022 (v1), and 12/05/2023 and 25/08/2023 (v2).
