Selected edge painting on British Library printed books: A work in progress

This dataset is a work in progress and will continue to be updated. Decorated edges are often added to bindings which contain several religious texts bound together, for example a Book of Common Prayer and a Book of Psalms. These texts are recorded separately in the Explore catalogue and have an extra number added to the shelf mark eg (1) and (2). They can be more easily identified by the use of a wild card * after the shelf mark rather than including the number in brackets in a search.
