资源简介:
This repository contains the Supplementary Information files for the paper The more you have, the more you want? Analysis of household material stocks and footprints, doiXXX.
Part of our data (the Norwegian Survey of consumer expenditure 2022, refer in the code as the Household Budget Survey - HBS table) is protected and cannot be shared (see details at the bottom of this description), preventing the full reproducibility of results with the data available here.
DATA
Excel/csv files
COICOP_Exio_match_396_2022.xlsx - Contains outputs from our python calculations* of Exiobase 3.9.6 material and carbon intensities for household consumption in 2022. It also matches the Exiobase categories to the COICOP categories, and transforms intensities values from basic to purchase prices.
Direct_emissions_coefficients.xlsx - Contains, for each COICOP category that presents direct carbon emissions associated with the use of its products (mainly fuels and firewood, which after purchased are almost sure to be burned and therefore emit large proportions of greenhouse gases), the conversion values from expenditure (in Norwegian Kroner, NOK) to CO2equivalent emissions. This emissions are added to carbon footprints in the R code.
mapping_kommuner_nuts2.xlsx - Maps the Norwegian municipalities to their respective NUTS2 region, allowing the construction of our spatial visualizations.
material_grouping_exio395.csv - Used to merge the materials available in Exiobase 3.9.6 into four material categories, namely biomass, fossil fuels, metal ores and non-metallic minerals.
petrol_diesel_prices.xlsx - average prices for diesel and gasoline, obtained from the Statistics Norway (SSB) website.
Housing_stocks.xlsx - Adapted from Amini et al. 2024 (https://doi.org/10.1111/jiec.70033), it contains the dwelling stocks intensities, in quilograms per square meter, for the different dwelling types and cohorts. The adaptation from the original source consists in organizing the materials into the four material categories.

CODES
The numbers at the beginning of each code name indicates the order in which codes should be executed. Some codes are in Python and others are in R, as it can be seen in the file extensions. Except for the 3 first codes (in Python), inputs and outputs are not shareable due to confidentiality agreements.
0_CF_exiobase396_2022.ipynb - Calculates household consumption-based intensities for carbon footprints. At the end, we filter only the ones for Norway. Outputs from it are used in the COICOP_Exio_match_396_2022.xlsx file.
0_MF_exiobase396_intensities_and_elec_waste_weights_2022.ipynb - Calculates household consumption-based intensities for material footprints. . Outputs from it are used in the COICOP_Exio_match_396_2022.xlsx file.
