Parishin from Gastrodia elata ameliorates aging phenotype in mice by modulating gut microbiota and metabolism

The traditional Chinese medicine Gastrodia elata has a variety of pharmacological effects, such as anticonvulsant, analgesic, sedative, angina relief, anti-platelet aggregation, antithrombotic, anti-myocardial ischemia, anti-inflammatory and immune enhancement effects. Parishin is a phenolic glucoside isolated from Gastrodia elata. We have shown that parishin exerts a protective effect on the intestinal mucosal barrier by reducing intestinal inflammatory factors, thereby delaying intestinal aging. This study explored the antiaging effects and potential mechanisms of parishin by analyzing the structural and functional changes in the gut microbiota and metabolome in naturally aged mice to provide a theoretical basis for the development and utilization of parishin.
