资源简介:
Curcumin, a bioactive compound derived from turmeric (Curcuma longa), has garnered attention for its potential health benefits, particularly in the context of metabolic disorders. Previous studies have suggested that curcumin may exert favorable effects on glucose metabolism and gut health, which are critical factors in managing diabetes and its complication. Despite the promising findings regarding curcumin's effects on metabolic health, the majority of intervention studies have predominantly focused on younger populations or mixed population, leaving a gap in understanding its efficacy in older adults. The current study aims to bridge this gap by investigating the impact of a 12-week curcumin supplementation regimen on glucose homeostasis and gut health in elderly with high risk of diabetes. We hypothesized that curcumin, due to its modulating effects on metabolism, will ameliorates hyperglycemia, improve metabolic and gut health on elderly participants with high risk of diabetes.
