Carbonation is a natural aging phenomenon that affects all types of concrete. One of its main consequences is the acceleration of steel corrosion induced by the phenomenon of depassivation. The aim of this work is to study the carbonation on quarry sand-based concrete. The concrete used is 100% crushed sand 0/6.3, gravel 8/15 and 15/25, all from the Arab Contractor quarry in Nomayos, Cameroon, with CEM II B-P 42.5 R from CIMENCAM. Two admixtures were used in the study, one with a dual superplasticizing and reducing effect (Sikamen) and the other with a water-repellent effect (Sika liquid). Carbonation was carried out on concrete samples at dates 0, 7, 14, 28, 56, 90, 180 days, 1 year and 1 year 6 and months. Physical properties and mineralogical characterization are compared between carbonated and non-carbonated concrete samples. The results of this study show that: after more than 1 year and 6 months of carbonation, a decrease in porosity with an increase in permeability is observed. Despite their high fineness modulus of quarry sand, the compressive strength of quarry sand-based concrete is good. The depth of carbonation is quite high on some dates, and exceeds the minimum cover value for concrete reinforcement. The microstructure becomes firm and resistant to the penetration of aggressive agents. A loss of mass is observed with a reduction in water and pore space, giving way to an increase in elastic deformation. Sikament admixture confers very high plasticity and prolonged rheology to concrete, increases compactness and durability and reduces concrete permeability. Sika water repellent combines with the lime in cement to form complementary crystallizations that obstruct the mortar's capillaries, making it watertight.
