High-frequency sea level parameters dataset The primary objective of the monitoring stations at Constanța, Gura Portiței, Mangalia, and Midia is the systematic acquisition of sea-level data. These stations utilize advanced radar-based water-level sensors positioned directly above the water surface. The measurement principle relies on a "pulse procedure," where short microwave impulses are emitted; the system then calculates the water level by measuring the precise elapsed time between the emission and the return reflection from the water surface. This time lag directly corresponds to the vertical distance to the current sea level. Operated with the support of the Maritime Hydrographic Directorate, the resulting data product—Sea Level Parameters—delivers high-frequency, in-situ measurements. The dataset is structured as a continuous time series with 10-minute averaging, providing point measurements at fixed coastal coordinates to characterize local hydrological conditions. To ensure data integrity, all files include comprehensive Quality Control (QC) flags compliant with the Copernicus Marine In Situ TAC standards.
