The emergence of fusidic acid (FA)-resistant Staphylococcus aureus highlights the importance of an active surveillance in isolating these strains. Detecting FA resistance in both Methicillin-susceptible and Methicillin-resistant S. aureus strains, in clinical microbiology laboratories, represents an alert for the carrying and the dissemination of virulence determinants, even responsible of outbreaks. Therefore, this study aimed to isolate and perform phenotypical and genotypical characterization of four FA-resistant, borderline oxacillin-resistant (BORSA) S. aureus clinical strains in Sicily.
