Gluconobacter oxydans NL71 showed an excellent catalysis ability of aldoses to aldonic acids using dilute acid pretreated corn stover. Maximum titer of 33.81 ± 1.04 g/L xylonic acid, 63.01 ± 1.81 g/L gluconic acid were coproduced with high yields of 93.91% and 93.36% respectively by using ZnCl2 as a regulator for whole-cell catalysis. This study presented a new Zn(II) regulation method on the whole cell catalysis process for the first time. Further more, similar applications of GA and XA in various industries in combination with this technology will definitely promote the realization of industrialization and commercialization of lignocellulose biorefineries.
