<p>This dataset contains the extracted trajectories from the video data for 17 participants of the Falling Head experiment of the paper "’Falling Heads’: investigating reflexive responses to head-neck perturbations" by Isabell Wochner, Lennart V. Nölle, Oleksandr V. Martynenko and Syn Schmitt. Always cite the paper together with this dataset because this dataset is not self-explanatory.</p> <p>The kinematics were recorded using a HCC-1000 camera and HCC Control software (VDS Vosskühler GmbH/Germany) at a sampling rate of 462 fps. Three markers were recorded to detect both translational as well as rotational movements of the head. In order to place the markers better and avoid that they are obscured by hair, the participants were asked to wear a swimming cap. Marker 1 was positioned on the sphenoid bone (close to the eyes), Marker 2 was positioned in sight line with a distance of 4 cm to Marker 1, and Marker 3 was attaches such that all three markers form an equilateral triangle.<br> Furthermore, we extracted a fixed point on the neck and chin (necessary for an inverse dynamics analysis).<br> Additionally, the demographic characteristics (gender, age, weight, height and BMI) are provided as .txt file.</p>
