The dataset contains two main files. The first is an accuracy comparison between air temperature measured by automatic weather stations on glacier surfaces and near-surface temperature retrieved from MODIS. The second is the seasonal and annual time-series heatwaves on the Tibetan Plateau glaciers from 2001 to 2020, which were calculated based on MODIS LST and adopting the heatwave definition from Hoday et al. (2016). This dataset only includes glaciers covered by pure MODIS pixels. In addition, linear trends of heatwave intensity and duration for each pixel, together with their significance and confidence intervals, were calculated using a linear model. Each file includes the geographic coordinates of the corresponding pixels. The reference coordinate system is the Albers equal-area projection, with a central meridian of 105° and standard parallels of 25° and 47° respectively.
