Data of direct shearing experiment of a laboratory discontinuous fault

Direct shear shearing experiment of a laboratory discontinuous fault were carried out at the Key Laboratory of Shale Gas and Geoengineering, Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The granite sample were acquired from a quarry in Suizhou City, Hunan Province of China. The acoustic emission (AE) activity during the shear failure of the fault was acquired by an AE system manufactured by PAC (Physical Acoustic Corporation). This data set includes (1) mechanical data, (2)AE characteristics including event rate, b value, AE amplitude and AE energy rate, and (3) morphological data of failure surfaces.
