Orthomosaics and DEMs

We collected aerial imagery to ground-truth and place our physical characteristics survey data in a wider, reach-scale context. Aerial imagery was collected for each sample reach using a commercially-available unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The Utah State University Ecogeomorphology and Topographic Analysis Laboratory (USU ETAL) used the UAV to photograph three hectares of river at each of the five study reaches for a total of fifteen hectares. The USU ETAL lab photographed river reaches in early August 2020 to capture conditions at approximately peak macrophyte coverage. The USU ETAL used the program DroneDeploy to process raw images into Orthomosaics and Digital Elevation Models (DEMs).
