Livestock-associated methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (LA-MRSA) strains are often exchanged between animals and between animals andhumans.Aim: Aim of the study was the genetic characterization of the whole genome of twoLA-MRSA strains isolated in Greece. Two MRSA isolates, recovered from the nasal cavities of a goat and afarmer during a previous study, were tested using next generation sequencing. Both strains were similar and were assigned to ST398-Vc-t034 type. Theyharboured genes associated with antibacterial resistance (aminoglycosides, Ã-lactams,macrolides, streptogramin B, tetracycline and trimethoprim) and virulence factors(enterotoxins, ?-hemolysins, and aureolysin). They carried a single transposon,identical to Tn 6133, and a pGSA2 plasmid. The results can contribute to further investigations on LA-MRSA inGreece
