The history of UEG’s Journal of Administration: progress and challenges

Abstract Scientific journals are important channels adopted by researchers to disseminate the results of their studies. In the area of Administration, this communication becomes important insofar as it disseminates knowledge in the field of management of public and private organizations, the applicability of which may result in society’s development. This article describes the history of the UEG Journal of Administration (RAUEG) in its eight years of existence, based on the analysis of the general data of the publications, to show the advances and challenges faced. The 20 editions published in the period 2010-2017 totaled 132 articles by researchers linked to several Brazilian research and higher education institutions, with most publications in the areas of economics (18%), marketing (17%) and management (13%). Even with the advances made since its creation, there is a need to overcome the barriers that prevent the journal from reaching the level of quality achieved by the major Brazilian journals in the area.
