Raw data supporting the manuscript: Pre-hatching parental care of communal carrion beetles is mainly maternal

This dataset contains the raw data underlying the findings of the manuscript entitled “Pre-hatching parental care of communal carrion beetles Necrodes littoralis (Staphylinidae: Silphinae) is mainly maternal”, currently under peer review. The dataset is provided in two files: Experiment I: behavioral observations of male and female beetles on rat carcasses, including carrion preparation/eating, aggression, and other behaviors. Experiments II and III: Experiment II: killing frequency of blow fly larvae by each sex. Experiment III: effect of adult colony composition (females only, males only, mixed) on thermogenesis and juvenile fitness. These data support all figures and statistical analyses reported in the manuscript. A README file is included describing the structure of each file. All files are provided in open formats suitable for replication.
