Corpus of Letters of Oxyrhynchus (30 BC - AD 330)

This corpus of letters develops out of a thesis project to analyse the practice of private letter correspondence and human mobility in Roman Egypt, especially seasonal variations of temporal migration. It aims to include all currently published samples of papyri letters (in total 328), to my knowledge, with Oxyrhynchus registered as its provenance. This is achieved through an entry search on HGV and cross-referencing of texts named as letters in <i>Oxyrhynchus Papyri.</i>The excel book was divided into five sheets: the first four sheets are the list of letters from 30 BC - AD 100; AD 101 - 200; AD 201 - 300; and letters with dubious dating (samples which could only be dated between two centuries and have a much wider, possible chronological range), and include the papyrus no., date, name (and status, if available) of the correspondents. The final sheet, with references, calculated the number of dated letters, and which month they were produced. A note should be given that papyri publications continue to be updated each year, and the corpus collected is not definitive.
