Replication Data for the Study on Interstate Subordination 1992-2013

Interstate subordination is basically contained in the file 01MAIN_DATASET. Inside the file there are: states subordinated to other states in the four domains: foreign policy; defense, monetary authority; territorial authority. Subordination on a scale of 0-4 indicates in how many domains subordination occurred. Another column contains subordination as a dummy variable (0-1). Data for main correlation tests are in the file 02Subordination and independent variables, which includes columns with subordination on both scales and the following variables: military budget; GDP; political regimes, core/semi-periphery/periphery; globalization; terain ruggedness; no access to seas; dominant Islamic. The files: 03Distance and 04Subordination and contiguity (dyads) contains dyads of subordinated and superordinated states in the entire period 1992-2013 used for testing distance and contiguity, respectively. The other files contain data for additional correlation tests carried out by exclusion of specific groups of observations. The names of the files indicate the groups (in brackets). Two columns in my research applied as independent variables contain data obtained from other databases: KOF Globalisation Index and Terrain Ruggedness Index. All the files present data as country-year observations except for 03Distance and 04Subordination and contiguity (dyads).
