Online sexual abuse and exploitation of Brazilian adolescents' dataset

The dataset described in this manuscript contains sociodemographic, educational, online behavior, and online sexual violence information among Brazilian adolescents. ChildFund Brazil collected data from a diverse sample of 8,436 students from both private and public schools. The significant sample size of the dataset enables inferences to be made on both a national and regional scale, with margins of error ranging from 0.89% to 7.45% (North region) at a 90% confidence level. Research based on the described dataset can explore how the characteristics of each region influence the rate of online sexual violence among adolescents and direct public policies according to the characteristics of each Brazilian region. The data reveal that the average age of adolescents is 15 years old, with a predominance of Black and Brown individuals from the Northeast and Southeast regions. Adolescents spend an average of four hours a day online, mainly on cell phones, and online sexual violence occurs in social media environments, online games, and messaging applications such as WhatsApp and Telegram.
