Finding Aid, Field School at the Biface III Site (12MI18) 1981-1982

This collection is referred to as “Field School at the Biface III Site (12MI18) 1981-1982.” This name is consistent throughout the finding aid, the file folders, and the box labels. The extent of this collection is three and a quarter (3.25) linear inches.
There are several oversized maps and oversized artifact sketch figures contained in the collection. In addition, one color photographic slide of a rocky area of the site is included. These materials were moved to the appropriate storage.
There are two draft records that seem to be associated with the project, but it is unclear where each belongs in the collection. The first, asset number 1040-0075, refers to the Callahan Experiment. A single typed page discusses a flint knapping session and on the reverse is a photocopy of a picture of a wooded area. This experiment is mentioned in field notes included with this collection. The second record, asset number 1040-0076, is a typed draft entitled “Methodology.” There are three excavation units mentioned, one of which coincides with units documented in this project. However, it is unclear if it is referring to this project because no conclusive connection can be made between this paper and the collection. Both of these documents have been included at the back of the Report Series folder.
Additionally, it should be noted that although the project’s work spanned from 1981 to 1982, the inclusive dates of this collection’s records cover 1980 to 1998 due to older administrative records and repository notes from 1998. Also, some documents included in this collection do not seem to be particularly significant. Such records have been placed in the Administrative Series folder. This includes a photography order form, scholarly newsletter, and correspondence concerning academic articles.
