Period-specific information Scope of regional gross domestic product Regional GDP estimates for 2000–18 are from National accounts (industry production and investment): Year ended March 2018. We balanced data for this period using a national accounting supply-use framework, where industry unit data is available for industries using the bottom-up methodology. Further industry breakdowns for this period may be available on request. Provisional estimates 2019 Final unit data was unavailable for 2019 provisional estimates. We used available data sources with a regional dimension (such as linked employer-employee data (LEED)) to derive provisional regional GDP estimates for 2019. Because the data sources had lower quality, we have provided only provisional estimates for the region totals. Revisions We incorporated revisions to national industry totals. These revisions affect the national totals that are allocated to regions. See 2019 national accounts improvements preview for more information. We updated regional allocation proportions for 2017 with new input data, which includes updated annual enterprise survey data and LEED. This update affects the proportional allocation to regions, which results in revisions to all regions for 2017. We also incorporated the latest national population estimates to our GDP per capita figures, back to the June 2014 year. However, updated subnational population estimates are not yet available, meaning the underlying regional population proportions are unchanged since last year. en-NZ
