This study will enable us to study and compare the genomes of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. albidinis, a pathogen of date palms. This phytopathogen is one of the greatest threats to natural oases, having killed more than 15 million date palms in Algeria and Morocco. Thanks to this study, we will be able to understand its genomic diversity and, above all, its arsenal of secrets that enable it to develop a strategy for infecting date palms. This mapping of the Foa genome, along with all the results of this study, is an asset for gaining a better understanding of the pathogen's strategies for establishing infection. This identification of the Foa infection mechanism could lead to future discoveries. It is also part of an effective strategy to combat this pathogen, which is constantly gaining ground, posing a real threat to the economy and food security of date-producing countries.
