Peat soil was collected from the Schlöppnerbrunnen fen, a slightly acidic, Fe-rich fen located in the Fichtel mountains in Northern Bavaria (Germany). In this study, Illumina MiSeq amplicon sequencing was performed samples collected from microcosm incubations used to monitor the transformation of sulfur species and to follow the microbial community shifts over time.
