Chondrocyte transcriptome of periostin knockout and wild-type mice showed that 4 genes (Tm4sf1, Evx2, Sscaml1, and GDf10) are statistically significant with FDR <= 0.05. 1247 genes have unadjusted p-values less than 0.05, but only 12 of those have log 2 fold-changes >= |2|. The GO biological process results do show statistically significant up-regulation of cell adhesion, cell signaling, angiogenesis, and differentiation in the KO samples. Overall design: Chondrocytes were isolated by enzymatic digestion from mouse joints at the age of 21 days. After 2 days of cultures, RNA was extracted and subjected to RNA-seq to determine the gene expression differences between periostin knockout mice and wild-type B6/129 mice.
