The ecological relevance of flagellar motility in soil bacterial communities

This work investigated the prevalence of flagellar motility across the bacterial tree of life using gene-based predictive approaches, and identified the life history strategies associated with this trait. Using metagenomic data, the study investigated the prevalence of flagellar motility as a community-aggregated trait across soil carbon gradients, and identified a consistent association between flagellar motility and soil carbon availability.
