资源简介:
At the request of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Louis District (Corps), John Milner Associates, Inc. (JMA), conducted National Historic Preservation Act Section 110 archaeological compliance surveys on Corps fee-title land in the Philadelphia District's Blue Marsh Lake Project Area in Berks County, PA. JMA examined 123 acres using systematic shovel testing grids and another 10 acres were examined in and around known sites. Field investigations resulted in the identification of 3 new historic-period sites and testing at or near 10 previously known prehistoric sites. Four of these sites were relocated; five were not relocated; and one was re-defined as having a historic-period component. Of the 13 sites examined during the surveys, JMA recommends additional excavations at 7 of them to determine integrity and evaluate eligibililty. A prehistoric archeological sensitivity model was developed for the project, and JMA recommends that the results of the surveys be used to further refine the model. This ARRA funded Task Order employed 40 specialists.
