Malayalam Sign Language Character Dataset(MSLCD)

This dataset contains 15 characters from the uniform Indian Sign Language (ISL) Alphabet in Malayalam, developed by the National Institute of Speech and Hearing (NISH) in Thiruvananthapuram, in collaboration with the All Kerala Association of the Deaf, and released on September 29, 2021. The dataset comprises both static and dynamic signs, representing a subset of Malayalam vowels and consonants, which were captured to support sign language recognition and accessibility for the deaf community in Kerala. It aims to facilitate research, development of real-time recognition systems, and educational tools, aligning with NISH\u2019s efforts to incorporate standardised fingerspelling into the curriculum for hearing-impaired students, with support from the State Council of Educational Research and Training
