The Koo Dataset is a large-scale public dataset provided by Koo, an Indian microblogging platform. It covers detailed metadata from the platform's launch in early 2020 to September 2023, including 72 million posts, 75 million comments, 40 million shares, 284 million likes, and 1.4 million user profiles. Co-created by the Department of Mathematics at City, University of London and The Alan Turing Institute, this dataset aims to investigate the formation of online communities in emerging economies and the Global South, as well as the connections between local politicians, public figures and their followers. The Koo platform positions itself as a central communication hub for diverse non-English-speaking communities, and this dataset provides novel opportunities for social media research in non-Western contexts.
