Queensland Exploration Geochemistry

This data package contains floodplain sediment geochemistry data from sites across Queensland, Australia, comprising 194 samples collected from areas including Atherton, Georgetown, Cooktown, Hann River, Walsh, Mossman, Einasleigh, Ebagoola, Red River, Coen, Townsville, Clarke River, Aurukun, Holroyd, Normanton, and others, spanning latitudes from −11.6° to −20.1° and longitudes from 141.2° to 146.5°. Samples were collected predominantly from alluvial terraces and flood plains, with smaller numbers from alluvial plains, tidal flats, alluvial swamps, overflow channels, river levees, and meander plains, and the majority are bottom-of-soil auger samples collected at depths of approximately 0.6 to 1.0 metres below surface, with a small number of top-of-soil samples and pit/trench samples included for comparison, all sieved to less than 75 µm prior to analysis. Each record includes site metadata such as location, elevation, landform type, geomorphological process, land use, watercourse, property name, while laboratory geochemistry comprises major oxides determined by total digestion and XRF along with a comprehensive suite of trace and rare earth elements.
